Summer Camp 2012
Building on the past two years of tent camps, in 2012 (our section’s centennial year) we’re pleased to offer a truly amazing mountain experience – a week in a hidden alpine valley in the mountains of northern Vancouver Island. Yes folks, if you liked the Alava-Bate area, then you are going to LOVE the McKelvie Basin. Perched high above the Tahsis River, camped at Nichol Lake (850m), we will be surrounded by a ring of rock ridges that offer superb hiking above the tree line, plus a chance to climb new summits. As far as we know, no one has spent time in this alpine gem.
Logistics: 14-15 people per week. Bring your own tent. Share the 2 large dome tents that serve as cooking/eating and drying/storage areas. All general camp equipment supplied. Self catered. Self guided. Helicopter fly in and out from Tahsis Village. For further information, contact Rick Hudson
