A high sprawling mountain north west of Marble Meadows. Its east face makes an impressive sight from Buttle Lake; however, rotten rock has deterred climbing efforts. Access is provided by the Marble Meadows Trail.
From a camp in Marble Meadows head west across the meadows, and up onto the ridge south of McBride. Hike north into the col south of the mountain. Traverse north west across a basin bellow cliffs. When possible head north to gain the gentle slopes on the west side of the mountain. Ascend easy snow and scree to the summit. The true summit is located at the south end of the summit ridge on a prow. The large cairn at the north end of the ridge is lower than the southern summit.
Variation: It is possible to take a more direct route up from the col. Initially hike up the scree west of the ridge until past a large notch in the ridge. Ascend a loose gully to the left, then head back to the top of the ridge. From here ascend to the gentler west slopes. Loose rock, not recommended.
