To reach Father & Son Lake, take the road to Banfield from Port Alberni. Past China Creek take the left branch up the Franklin River (also goes to Museum Creek). Follow the Thistle Mine Road (TMR), turning left off the main road at a gate. The last 2 km are quite rought and require a 4x4.
A good trail has been cut throught the logging slash and up to Father & Son Lake. Follow the trail around Father Lake, then head NE, up steep open timber to reach the ridge between Douglas Peak and McQuillan. Head SE along the ridge to 1360m, then swing to left/north and into an open basin, then up a steep gully to reach a 1480m false summit. Follow the ridge NE then drop down to the 1340m col at the head of King Solomen Basin. From the col climb a series of rock steps, heather slopes, and bush; keeping slightly to the right of the ridge crest; to reach the summit.
There are two exposed pitches that require a rope, particularily in wet conditions.
