South Island

This area consists of all the peaks south of Port Alberni. The mountains in this region tend to be small with only a few rising above 1500m (5000'). The areas proximity to Victoria and Nanimo has made it popular with hikers and climbers looking for a winter thrash. Due to extensive logging, access tends to be good; however, locked gates and ditching has added lengthy approach marches to easy day hikes
