Welcome to the Alpine Club of Canada - Vancouver Island Section.
Founded in 1912, our Section offers a wide range of mountain-related activities, from local hikes to challenging climbs in the Vancouver Island mountains, Coast ranges, Rockies and beyond. These trips are all listed in our schedule, which is provided for up to six months and updated regularly. We also put on summer hiking/climbing camps and winter ski/snowshoe camps, and offer a number of subsidized mountain education courses and workshops, including ice axe handling, crevasse rescue, avalanche safety, and introductory mountaineering. We have a monthly newsletter, the Island Bushwhacker, and we put on monthly social events with slideshow presentations on mountain-related topics.
You don't have to be an experienced climber to join the club - all that's really required is a love of the mountains. If the mountains are an important part of your life, or you would like them to be, there's a place in the club for you!
